Glee creator Ryan Murphy has announced the addition of three brand new characters for Glee Season 2, and who are we to argue with adding more drama to the show? The more, the merrier! Here is the rundown of the three planned new characters, along with who we would choose if we could cast each of the roles. (Because we know best, as always!) And while we're excited about the prospect of more characters, this can't be welcome news for the agents of the actors who play New Directions mute dancers Matt and Mike! Are those two forever destined to have to just sway in the background?!
KURT'S BOYFRIEND
Who is playing him? The character is yet-to-be cast, but is one of three brand new roles that will be filled through a nationwide open casting call.
Character description: Ryan Murphy promises to make Kurt and his new boy a "power couple" who won’t be doing the "hiding-in-the-shadows thing." HOT. Murphy adds, "We're going to make them popular, and out and proud and glamourous. Like prom king and king." We are *so* there!
Why we're excited about him: Do we really need to explain this one? Kurt *finally* gets a love interest! What’s not to be excited about? Someone as self-assured as Kurt is in desperate need of a little arm candy to flaunt in the halls! Plus, it's bound to make Rachel even more jealous about being single, and we're in favor of anything that gives Rachel license to continue cooking up drama.
Famous person we'd cast: Zac Efron. Duh. How is it possible Troy Bolton himself hasn't yet to made an appearance on Glee — especially since skeptics were originally worried Glee would just be a High School Musical ripoff? (Clearly, they were waaay off.) He's got the voice, he's got the smile, he's got the perfect emo coif. How could he and Kurt not rule the school together? Plus, how great would it be to see Matthew Morrison, who originated the role of Link Larkin in the Broadway production of Hairspray, share the screen with his film counterpart? Come on — two Link Larkins on one show? Talk about dreamboat overload!

RACHEL'S RIVAL
Who is playing her? The character is yet-to-be-cast, but is one of three brand new roles that will be filled through a nationwide open casting call.
Character description: Creator Ryan Murphy refers to this character as an "Eve Harrington" type, as in the acolyte character from All About Eve who is taken under an aging star's wing and ultimately usurps her star power. That means someone (Hmm, could it be Rachel?) on this show will bite the hand that feeds her. OMG! We can’t wait to see this happen!
Why we're excited about her: Are you kidding? Who isn't ready to see Rachel get knocked down a peg or two? Sure, we love her voice, but the 'tude we could do without.
Famous person we'd cast: Laura Bell Bundy. This Broadway actress — star of the stage version of Legally Blonde — would be perfect for an under-the radar spotlight hog, with her innocent look and stellar vocal chops. If we were Rachel, we would definitely be worried about getting upstaged!

THE MALE MERCEDES
Who is playing him? The character is yet-to-be-cast, but is one of three brand new roles that will be filled through a nationwide open casting call.
Character description: Ryan Murphy calls him an "R&B-singing teen" and the "male Mercedes." About time!
Why we’re excited about him: There's barely room in this club for the ego of one Mercedes, let alone two! Do we smell romance or rivalry? Let the brassiness ensue!
Famous person we'd cast: Okay, so this might be the toughest role to cast from already known stars who could still play high school. Seeing that Ruben Studdard might be a little long in the tooth at this point, we would go with someone who's not yet proven himself as a singer, Role Models' 14-year-old Bobb'e J. Thompson. This guy's got attitude for days and, despite his age, is already a showbiz vet. (He's had hilarious parts in 30 Rock, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and That's So Raven.) And no, he doesn't have any Broadway gigs on his resume, but he did rap Bow Wow's "What's My Name" on the variety show Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge back in 2004 (before his acting career took off), and he made a classic appearance while promoting a film on Jimmy Kimmel Live, in which he starts freestyle rapping. One of his choice lyrics included, "Some people drop metaphors, I drop meta-fives." (Love it!) Just try to tell us someone like that couldn't hold his own with Mercedes!

I'll be cool with the adding of new characters as long as they flesh out the rest of the core 12 this season, I think. :)
Also, I demand GLBT equality. If they plan on going all out with Kurt & his soon-to-show-up love interest, they better give Brittana's relationship more development than what they've got so far.
