Glee as a play:

Fox’s Glee could be taking the Broadway stage. According to Variety, Music Theater International is in talks with creators and producers to license the rights to Fox’s every-show-is-a-musical series. As the stage adaptation is only in initial development stages, it’s not clear if professionals or amateurs would be cast — a number of MTI-handled shows (Hairspray, High School Musical, Rent) are offered in age-appropriate school editions....

Perhaps fortunately (or unfortunately) it's already been refuted:

...Chris Alexander, a spokesman for 20th Century Fox TV, said in a statement, "We are very careful and deliberate when contemplating brand extensions of our franchises and are mystified why Music Theater Intl would claim there have been any such discussions about a live theatrical version of 'Glee.'"...

I'm fine with that because it's much to soon and honestly, what?! why?!

Over at the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation website, a wheelchair-bound actor named Zack Weinstein has up a blog post about Glee and — even more exciting — his upcoming guest role. He can’t give many details away about the episode, but Weinstein does offer heartfelt and moving testimony about the accident he suffered in his teens that left him paralyzed, and his refusal to let that reality end his dreams of becoming an actor. From the very beginning of Glee, I’ve appreciated the casual way they introduced a wheelchair-bound character like Artie, but I’ve often wondered if the fact that the actor who plays him, Kevin McHale, is able-bodied, makes it less of a triumph for diversity. (Indeed, around the time of the “Wheels” episode, some organizations outright objected.) Weinstein’s take is an honest inside account: He knows that Glee producers auditioned actors who used wheelchairs for the role of Artie. And he thinks that if McHale was the best fit in the end, then it doesn’t matter whether or not he’s able to walk. Take a look at Zack’s post and tell me: Do you agree?

Here's the blog post, which I personally think is pretty great. I'm on his side regarding McHale being overall the best fit, but that's just me. I'm curious now about his character :)

Also, this, 100%:

"Don't get me wrong. I don't think that I'm suddenly going to be some big star. After all, it is only two scenes in one episode of one TV show. My personal involvement in the episode isn't even the most important thing. The important thing is that people like me are being written into popular shows like 'Glee'."
